--- Biography

Fifty years of drawings, job sites, and students.

Daniel Miskie began his career in the mid-1970s with a dual appetite for design and construction — unusual then, nearly extinct now. He earned his PhD and went on to hold a tenured professorship in Architecture at Miami University in Ohio, where he taught design studio and construction theory for fifteen years.

In the late 1980s he moved west, took his contractor's license, and began a practice in Lafayette that would, over the next four decades, produce custom residences throughout Orinda, Lafayette, Piedmont, Walnut Creek, and Marin; a 64-home subdivision in the Oakland Hills; low-income housing that earned a HUD award in Richmond and Oakland; and civic work including St. Perpetua's social hall in Lafayette.

Still walks every site, and still takes on a small number of new engagements each year.
